We've dated these chain link cufflinks to the Edwardian period although its possible they are even earlier, perhaps late Victorian. With the very ornate nature of the back beans which attach though the cuff it would suggest that these could be late 1800s as over time, moving into the Edwardian period, the back became less ornate. Chain cufflinks are best added to the cuff before putting your shirt on ( or else get someone to help with your cuffs ). The chain allows for some movement between both sides of the cuff so you can slip your hand through. Although some wear is evident to parts of the decoration they are a beautiful intricate design and the inset checkerboard effect of black onyx and mother of pearl really gives alot of visual interest. the cufflink oval faces are 20mm x 15mm
