These square gold plated cufflinks are stamped with the Swank Hallmark. Swank is historically one of the big names in mens sartorial jewellery, cufflinks, tie bars and clips etc. Samuel Stone and Maurice Baer founded the Attleboro Manufacturing Company in the USA in 1897. By 1927, they were using the name Swank. In 1936, the business became incorporated as Swank Products Inc. They changed their name to the current Swank Inc. in 1941. The S in a pentagon mark was used for Swank karat gold (around 1945) and the round edged ends of the toggle bar place it later than that in the early 1950s. These stunning example of Swank cufflinks hold a lot of detail in moulding and texture. The chunky square setting (17mm square) has a roped edge and is striated  / etched on the sides and back. This setting is a good 6mm deep giving the cufflinks a weighty robust feel. The mesh at 45mm long and 12mm wide is finished with a D shaped clasp for the toggle and again is weighty and striated on all surfaces. The olive green moonglow stone has a light vertical banding which moves across the face off the glass as you move the piece.
